Community Care Discounts for Equity and Justice

To Honor & Celebrate Pride, Juneteenth, and YOU, we’ve launched a series of Community Care Discounts. I hope that even in some small way, my crystal shop will make the world a little more fair. We’re a small, woman-owned, local business that STILL feels that it’s important to continue to work toward creating Equity and Justice. We’re doing it by offering Community Care Discounts that make a difference to you, our customer.

At the Crystal Lounge, we believe wellness and energetic care should be accessible — especially for the people who keep Seattle vibrant and resilient. Our Community Care pricing (5% Off) is a year-round discount for customers who experience systemic barriers, and/or financial difficulty.

You are welcome to use the 5% Off Community Care Discount if you are a:
– Member of the LGBTQIA+ community
– BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color) community member
– Ally who actively supports LGBTQIA+ or BIPOC communities
– Senior
– Veteran
– First Responder
– A teacher or school employee
– A local employee working in:
• Belltown & Downtown close to our shop
• Pike Place Market & Waterfront
– Someone facing real financial strain that makes regular pricing inaccessible


Financial Need, Specified:

This option is intended for customers experiencing genuine financial need and hardship.

If you are generally financially stable, can comfortably meet your needs, travel, dine out freely, or maintain a higher standard of living, we kindly ask that you reserve this rate for community members who truly rely on it.

Why Does Equality, Equity, and Justice Matter?

The institutional systems we exist in have strong biases, prejudices, racism, classism, and all the other -ism’s heavily built into it. Even small acts against a system that is unjust make a difference over time.

Equity: Equity is not only dividing resources fairly and equally, but also factoring in differences amongst people. Differences such as race and socioeconomic status that would require different support to ensure the same opportunity of success.

Equality: Equality is dividing resources equally but does not factor differences in need and ability.

Justice: Justice is long-term equity. It looks to create equity in systems as well as individuals.

Michelle Ferris

Michelle Ferris is the owner, curator, and buyer for Crystal Lounge by Crystallography Gems. Born & raised in Seattle by first-generation parents, she has worked to create authentic, connective, and inclusive events for the better portion of her professional life. Since 2013, Michelle worked to create community-activated Rock, Gem, Art, & Music shows, at which Crystallography Gems was a cornerstone. At the start of the pandemic, moved her operation online, and opened a shop in Georgetown, expanding into a larger showroom in 2022. In November 2023, she moved her shop to downtown Seattle, rebranding it as Crystal Lounge by Crystallography Gems. Her shop offers crystals, minerals, gems, rocks, jewelry, and metaphysical tools, and focuses on getting her customers the tools they need, and the education needed for them to make informed, confident decisions about their purchases.
