Nov 29: Indigenous Market at Crystal Lounge

Come celebrate Native American Heritage Day during our Indigenous Market at the Crystal Lounge by Crystallography Gems! Meet our featured local various Indigenous Artists and their art! Learn about and engage with our wide selection of crystals and minerals. Have a cup of tea, a snack, or a locally crafted beverage while you enjoy your experience at Seattle’s Crystal Lounge. We are both a crystal shop, and bar, and open to people of all ages.

To further honor the Indigenous people of the PNW, we are not taking any vending fee, commission, or gallery fee from any of our participating indigenous artists during the month of November. We are asking that you pay them directly, to help support them as well as the greater indigenous community. If you feel inclined to support the Indigenous community even further than your original purchase, you may also donate to realrentduwamish.org

We hope you’ll join us to explore whole new worlds, and perhaps even go home with a new piece of art – whether created by an artist’s hand or by the Earth.

KRISTIAN CANDELARIA @jouska.art

Clothing & Art by KRISTIAN CANDELARIA @jouska.art

My name is Kristian Candelaria. I am Latino, Diné, Oglala Lakota, and a few other things I’m sure. I am mixed race and I create mixed media art for those who feel mixed up inside like myself.

I’ve created art since I was very young and have come to realize it was my coping mechanism for a chaotic home life. A chaotic home life of which I now know stems from generational trauma due to attempted ethnocide.

A large part of that trauma is losing loved ones to suicide and alcohol/substance related deaths. Although I’ve lost many friends and family from these collateral experiences, I am still here. I am still my ancestors no matter how much I have been impacted by history’s ugliness.

I want to show through my art and life that I don’t allow my trauma to bind me but instead, I reflect on that trauma to create aesthetically pleasing imagery. I want my art to heal people in the moments they view it. I want my art to open the door to express your emotions with me through my art. Overall, I want you to feel empowered against the assholes, the tyrants, the misogynists, the homophobes, the doom, the gloom, and the death. I want my art to help you find the peace you need to cope with life.

The magic of life is the balance of chaos and love, and the discovery of what really matters. I strive to portray that through my mixed media art.

SACRED AF @sacredafherbalinfusions

All of my products are curated with us in mind! Chemical free all natural ingredients. Hair oil, Body oil/butter pain relieving salves and much more.

Tiana Gaona a.k.a. Tea Tea is an Afro indigenous, disabled artist from Seattle Washington. Her matriarchal lineage is Tsimshian; indigenous to the PNW. Focused on herbal infusions and natural beauty products.

One day in 2017, I realize most of my hair was gone. It was short, dead, & breaking. It was shocking. I realized all the products I’ve used never actually helped my hair, & that they were full of chemicals. So I started making my own. Through research & being in the kitchen; I fell in love with plants, & the art of this creation. Life happened, & my ability to make products came to a halt.

Fast forward to 2024 where my passions are reignited!

I was struggling with my disabilities, & started making products to ease my pain & help with the symptoms of my autoimmunes. These things have helped me so much, I just knew I had to share it. The plants I use are left to me by my ancestors, their teachings influence & inspire my products; which is why I named my product line
Sacred AF.

These products will always be made with love & care, from my home to yours.

Adriana Furlong of Aakaa Creations

Tribal affiliation – Sugpiaq Alutii

Cama’i! I’m Adriana Furlong, I am a registered Alutiiq Artist from Seattle. I specialize in jewelry, but dabble in mixed media arts and sewing.

I started making jewelry in 2016 while living in Standing Rock in the NoDapl camp. After camp I didn’t realize it then, but I had a long healing journey ahead of me. Out of that healing, I spent a lot of time reconnecting to myself and to my ancestors, leading to the birth of Aakaa creations.

Aakaa means older sister in Sugt’stun. I feel like I could write about how I’m inspired by my ancestors or nature or even pop culture, but to be real and kinda cheesy- the truth is my biggest inspiration is my little sister and how beautiful of a person she is, inside and out (even if shes always stealing my earrings). I hope everyone who wears my art feels Aakaam Tunua- a big sisters love.  Quyanaa for your time!❤️
