A reddish to pink, gemmy, lithium rich, iron & magnesium free variety of tourmaline in quartz matrix. A member of the Elbaite group, it is the rarest form of tourmaline. It is sometimes mistaken for ruby. It crystallizes in masses and also in hexagonal columns. Notable mines include Brazil, Africa, Maine & Southern California.
