How To Use Crystals and Stones

Are you interested in working with the energy of crystals? They are said to have a wide range of healing properties. But how do you begin learning how to use them?

We recommend getting to know any new crystal on it’s own, before combining it with other crystals. Here’s a few ways to become acquainted with using them:

Quiet Observation

Take some one-on-one time to get to know your stone. Observe your crystal. Take in its color, pattern, shape, and structure. Take gentle, long, deep breaths.​

  • Hold crystal in both hands.
  • Close your eyes and relax.
  • Imagine you are inside your stone.
  • Move within its flow, and wander deep into the center of your crystal.
  • Let go of worldly concerns, and explore.

When it feels complete, gently come out of this crystal experience by taking a few deep breaths and slowly opening your eyes.

Mindful Meditation

Go somewhere quiet where you will not be disturbed for at least 10 to 15 minutes.

  • Admire your stone, noticing every detail.
  • Close your eyes.
  • Clasp your left hand around the stone.
  • Take a few long, deep breaths.
  • Do your best to clear your mind.

Getting into a relaxed state changes your brainwave pattern to theta waves, which are conducive to psychic abilities and feeling crystal energy. This will help you open up, so that the crystals can communicate with you.

While doing deep breathing, focus all of your energy on the stone. Concentrate all your senses in your hand, and especially the physical sensation of the crystal’s presence.

Keep breathing deeply, and pay close attention to what you are feeling from the stone. Though sometimes it may take a few meditations, people often report feeling the stone’s energy pulsing.

​Keep doing this, and you may soon experience other responses from the crystal. Whatever happens, trust that it is the crystal communicating with you and helping you. Continued meditations will typically deepen the reactions.

Sometimes the experience shows up as:

  • ​Flashes of images.
  • Hearing the voice of the stone.
  • An answer to a pressing question in your life, a realization about something important.
  • Feelings of joy.
  • An emotional release.

When ready, allow yourself to slowly come back to physical reality. Put your crystal aside, and ground yourself by imagining roots coming from your feet and going down into the ground, and wrapping around the center of the Earth.
Wiggle your toes, shake your hands, and just sit for a moment, reflecting on how you felt during the meditation.

Active Rest

Place the crystal on the body, or on its associated chakra, or anywhere needing assistance for 15-30 minutes, and receive its healing and clearing energies.

​This is easily done in bed, before you go to sleep. Before drifting off, move the crystal to under the pillow or in the pillowcase.

You can also skip placing them on the body, and go straight for under/in the pillow, and sleeping with them there. Remember to pull them out and clear your crystals when it feels needed.

Pocket Stones

Carry your crystal in your pocket on a daily basis. Having them near you will help you assimilate their frequency, and you will reap the benefits of their energy without having to think about it.

Be aware that every crystal has a different hardness, and carrying softer crystals with harder ones can damage the softer crystals. Other items, like keys, can also damage them, and crystals like quartz can damage phone screens, etc.

​We recommend you carry your stones by themselves, or in a pouch to protect them. When carrying hard and soft crystals together, wrap the crystals individually in a small piece of fabric/leather/tissue, before putting them in the pouch together.

Wearing Your Crystals

Wearing your crystals is an excellent way to get in touch with their energy, and keep it close to you at all times. Whether you wear them in the form of rings, bracelets, necklaces or pendants, or even in a crown or tiara, it’s a wonderful – and stylish – way to engage with their energy.
