AZURITE IN MALACHITE
AZURMALACHITE /BLUEBIRD

Composed of 2 copper carbonate minerals, Azurite & Malachite. They typically form together in the oxidized zone above copper deposits. It precipitates from descending solutions in fractures, caverns, cavities & the spaces in porous rocks. The host rock is usually a carbonate rock such as limestone or marble. It is a relatively rare mineral in that its formation requires the local geochemical environment to alternate between the conditions required to form malachite and those that form azurite. Azurmalachite has concentric bands of dark blue and dark green. It is highly sought after as a lapidary material for jewelry.
