LEGRANDITE

A rare zinc arsenic mineral that is found as a secondary mineral in the oxidation zones of arsenic bearing zinc deposits and granite pegmatites. It is found with adamant, smithsonite, aurichalcite, siderite, goethite & pyrite, among others. Legrandite is found in Namibia, Mexico & New Jersey. Named in 1934 for Belgian mining engineer M. Legrand. It forms small crystals and botryoids that are yellow to clear and translucent to transparent.
