OPALITE
MAN MADE OPAL GLASS

The geological term opalite is applied to any genuine opal that does not display “play of color”, the typical flash of colors seen when viewing opal. Today it is more often used to define man-made glass, plastic or resin material that has an opal like appearance & synthetic opal that may or may not have “play of color”. The distinction is that genuine opal is usually referred to as common opal, not opalite. Therefore if it says opalite, you can assume it isn’t genuine opal. Though opalite is not natural it still has specific metaphysical properties & energies. It has a joyous, playful, youthful, bubbly energy that many people, especially young people, are drawn to.
