PEACH BANDED AGATE

A type of banded chalcedony, agate is found in translucent browns, grays, pinks, purples and apricots with curved white bands. The Peach variety shows predominantly that color. A new theory in the growth of agates proposes that the white bands are in fact opal. Therefore the agate is a beautiful muted rainbow of cryptocrystalline quartz with opaque opal bands swirling through. Many stones have been found in ancient sites that have been carved into cabochons that have eye-like shapes, believed to be protection talismans.
