VERDITE

(Africa)

A dark green variety of Fuchsite, a Muscovite mineral. It consists mostly of Fuchsite with minor amounts of Albite, Chlorite, Corundum, Diaspore, Quartz, Rutile & Talc and gets its green color from Chromium. Mined as a byproduct of the African gold and garnet mining industries, it is typically carved into figurines and used in jewelry. Though it is sometimes called a jade, it is much softer than jade, which makes it ideal for carving. It is opaque with a vitreous luster.

Associated with the heart chakra, zodiac sign of Taurus and vibrates to the numbers 2 & 11.
