MORGANITE

The pink variety of Beryl (aluminum beryllium silicate). The green is Emerald and the blue is Aquamarine. Discovered in 1910, it was named after financier J.P. Morgan. It is found mostly in Madagascar & Brazil. Unlike Emerald, Morganite is usually not included and is very transparent with a vitreous luster. It is occasionally found with cat’s eye chatoyancy.
