SHIVA LINGAM

Cryptocrystalline quartz from the banks of the Narmada River, one of the 7 sacred places of pilgrimage in India. They are considered sacred in the Hindu religion and are only harvested once a year. They have iron oxide inclusions that are said to be from an ancient meteorite impact. The word Shiva means sign or symbol and the shape represents Brahmanda, or the cosmic egg of creation of both male and female energies. The stones are a physical representation of masculine energy, dynamic expression & knowledge. The markings, called Yont, depict feminine energy, wisdom and intuition. Together, the female energy arouses the masculine urge to create. There are many Hindu temples with massive Shiva Lingam stones in the center, resting in a Yoni, which symbolises the female genitalia. They are worshiped as a representation of the God Shiva.
